Symposium obesidad (Primera parte) Obesity is a major health problem throughout the world. It is a complex, multifactorial disease with an increasing prevalence. Obesity is the most common nutritional disorder in the developed world and is associated with significant chronic diseases (hypertension, non insulin dependant diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia) as well as stroke, sleep apnea, joint diseases and certain cancers. Obesity is a significant cause of morbidity and is having an increasing negative impact on the health care systems in both the developed and the developing world.
