Catalytic functions of preoxidase, such as their participation in redox processes, is mimicked by the iron (III) complex of deuteroporphyring IX, deuteroferriheme (dfh) oxidized with compounds like hypochlorite or peroxoacids. The products of the reactions and the «intermediate states» of the dfh and the oxygen donor compound can be identified via spectrophotometric studies. The whole process involves the production of two «intermediate states;» the compounds that are present as intermediate forms in the reaction are able, not only to participate in the redox process, but to regenerate part of the dfh used up. The oxidized complex of dfh catalyses the demethylation and dealkylation of different substituted anilines. The identification of the main and by-products of these reactions are also presented in this study.
